Current 5th team in the table of Polish Plusliga, Stocznia Szczecin had great financial problems and delays with payments for their players. President of the club, Jakub Markiewicz in the interview with "Przegląd Sportowy" said that club is looking for a new sponsor.

In the previous season Szczecin took 12th place in the table, but after the season they contracted many volleyball stars such as: Bartosz Kurek, Łukarz Żygadło, Nikolay Penchev, Simon Van de Voorde, Nicholas Hoag or volleyball superstar: Matey Kaziyski.

Sport director became Bulgarian, Radostin Stoychev, creator of great trophies of Itas Diatec Trentino. Clubs was taking about huge goals and fighting for playing in European Champions League. But first informations about problems in Stocznia Szczecin appeared quickly. There were also informations about offers for Stocznia's players from another clubs.

It tourned that club didn't pay salaries for the players for last two months. President of KPS Stocznia, Jakub Markiewicz, said that current situation is caused by broken negotiations with a large sponsor.

- We agreed with a large sponsor, but the contract wasn't signed and we were left with debts. Now we are looking urgently for an "emergency exit" - he said to "Przegląd Sportowy".

Interestingly, according to Italian journalists, "La Gazzetta dello Sport", this sponsor was probably Orlen, fuel company. However, the topic collapsed when the company decided to invest about 50 million PLN per year to support Robert Kubica, which enabled the Polish driver's return to prosecution in Formula 1.

According to the informations of La Gazetta dello Sport, Stocznia's players dislike the current situation less and less.

According to the regulations, if wage arrears exceed 90 days, players will have the right to terminate contracts due to the fault of the club.

- Any scenario is possible, even the worst - added Markiewicz. The president marked, that he believes in finding a way out of the current situation.

Italian magazine quoted also the statement of the Bartosz Kurek's manager - Jakub Michalak. A manager of MVP of the recent World Championships pointed out that the volleyball player does not want to leave Stocznia Szczecin, but he has offers from Japan, Italy, Turkey and China. The Kurek contract is structured in such a way that the volleyball player, in the event of financial arrears, may leave earlier than after 90 days of not receiving a salary.

- No player is a charity. (...) We still hope that the situation of Stocznia will normalize and Kurek will perform in PlusLiga - admitted the manager.

Despite financial problems, Stocznia Szczecin are doing well in PlusLiga. They have 5 wins and 2 defeats, which gives them fourth place after eight league rounds. The first-round match with Trefl Gdańsk was also interrupted because of the lighting failure.
