raylight ·Osmany Juantorena is an Italian-Cuban volleyball player. He currently plays as wing-spiker for Halkbank Ankara. He is a nephew of Alberto Juantorena, a Cuban former track runner and politician. He debuted in the Cuban first series aged 12, in the Orientales de Santiago. He remained in Cuba for seven years, before moving to Russian side Ural Ufa. In the meantime he also began to play for Cuba's national team, winning the bronze medal in the 2005 World League. In the late 2006 Juantorena was disqualified for two years after testing positive for Testosterone during the Central American and Caribbean Games. His return was delayed by the Cuban Volleyball Federation due to his decision to move to play to Italy. He remained in Trento until he could return to play in 2009. Playing for Trentino Volley, he won the FIVB Club World Championship, the Italian Cup and a European Champions League (he also obtained the title of MVP in the competition) in 2010.23 12549

raylight ·First match of the hosts of the Olympic games: Chinese team. Bulgarian team played on their proper level. Vladimir Nikolov scored 22 points, Kaziyski 18 points. Best scorer of that match was Zhi Yuan with 24 points. Setter of Bulgarian national team, Andrey Zhekov said: "I'm glad that we won the first match. We suffered a lot of pressure because we are new here. We are glad to participate in the Olympic Games and we did a lot of preparation before the Games. We played consistently and managed to do with all kinds of situation and won the match in the end. I hope we can perform better in the next match."

raylight ·The volleyball world has new champions! Brazil lost in the final of the Olympic Games tournament with USA 1:3. Brazil entered better to final game and won the first set. USA did not play the same volleyball as before in semifinal against Russia. From the begining of the second set USA took the control of the game. Clayton Stanley and his services in the second set raised the USA team spirit. Brazil had big problems in the attack, only Giba and Gustavo were playing. Dante with Andre were not in the game. Bernardo Rezende was trying to find the optimal six players. It was not enough for the good balanced American team. Team of H. McCutcheon did not have any week points in the final game and deserved the victory. Hugh McCutcheon (coach of USA national team) said: "It was a very difficult match, a very difficult environment. Our guys embraced it. Brazil seemed more comfortable in the first set, but things changed in the second set, and after that it was just two teams battling hard. For us to be Olympic champions in the same year as World League champions validates our goals, and it's a great achievement for us."1 4915

raylight ·As usual Nikolov and Kaziyski scored the most points in the Bulgarian team and as usual Ernando "Harry" Gomez was the best player of Venezuelan team. He scored the most points in that match: 24 (20 kills, 2 aces, 2 blocks). Nikolov had extremely high efficiency in attack: 50%! Next match of Bulgarian team was quarter-final against Russia. Martin Stoev, coach of Bulgarian national team said after match: "I am very glad we won the game because my team worked differently than in the match against Italy and all the players listened to my tactical advice. I am happy to see the difference my players showed today. For the first time in these Olympic Games, we have had all 12 players in our team. Not only the highest number of players, but also the highest number of healthy players,. This makes me more confident and I can choose from more people to play on the court. So it was good for me today and for the next matches. It will help my team to play better and better."
