The Japan Volleyball Association (JVA) is pleased to announce that the "Volleyball Japan International Friendship Games - Tokyo Challenge 2021" will be held at Ariake Arena (Koto-ku, Tokyo) on Saturday, May 1 and Sunday, May 2.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government, which will be the venue of the event, issued a "Declaration of Emergency" today based on the Act on Special Measures against the Influenza Pandemic, etc., requesting that events and sports to be held in the affected areas be held without spectators in principle.

We would like to express our deepest apologies to those who were looking forward to watching the games at the venue. The details of the refund procedure for tickets purchased will be announced on the JVA website as soon as it is decided.

We ask for your understanding in this matter.

Kenji Shimaoka, Chairman, Japan Volleyball Association

We regret that fans who have been looking forward to the tournament will not be able to see the performance of Ryujin NIPPON and Firebird NIPPON directly at the venue, but we recognize that this was an unavoidable decision to prevent the spread of infection. However, we recognize that this was an unavoidable decision in order to prevent the spread of the disease. We hope that everyone will cheer for both teams from in front of the TV. We will continue to take all possible measures to protect the participating teams and related personnel from the risk of infection and to ensure the safety of the tournament.
