@sitenoise ……Beijing's coach claimed that they will not have any kinds of transfer last week. All the players from Bayi depends on Bayi's decision. 

@EvelynGe I saw that too. I think she ends up in Tianjin - Yikes! - but I don't like using gossip as a “Proof of Transfer”. Some of these sites have porno pop-ups :)

@Eylul It's a new American league, the first professionnal volley-ball league in the USA (it was about time !). There's a team called “Athletes Unlimited Pro League” with all the players inside it but this is quite wrong, it's not a team it's an entire league, that's why it is so crowded. But as we don't know the teams yet, people on this website decided to put all the players in this “team”.

It is quite weird because it will be a league of six week-ends with four teams, the 4 MVPs of each team will be able to choose their teammates for the next week-end with a system of draft. There are some weird rules, the Americans still can't do things normally. It will begin in February 2021 in Nashville for the first week-end of competition. From what I see I'm really dubitative, it seems like distorting volley-ball and also I wonder how we will be able to manage this tournament on volleybox, with the teams changing every week lol.

@Sherlock What do you think of making six tournaments out of it? Is that even possible? The most interesting thing about it will be the rosters so it would be cool to be able to track that. But I don't think that's even possible. I guess just News Items each week will have to do.

@sitenoise Well, I don't think that's a very good idea for the comprehension of this tournament, but actually I don't have any other (the least bad was : one tournament and put every player in the teams she played the most, if possible). I think @Volleybox know every possibility we have on this site and will probably have better ideas.

@Sherlock from my point of view it is better to create one tournament and create new teams each week (as I understand the teams will change every week). I suppose that the teams will have some names, am I right?

To be clear, I don't insist on my opinion and I am open for your suggestions.

@Volleybox  Do you have any back-burner dreams of someday allowing for micro-managing rosters instead of locking them to a team for a season/year? If so, this small tournament could serve as a beta test

@Volleybox From what I understood, I think the rosters of the team will change every week, but probably not the team in itself. For example in the first week Team Chicago will play with Jordan Larson and Karsta Lowe and in the second week Chicago will have Taylor Cook and Sheilla Castro. That's the main problem of this event for Volleybox. It's like there are transfers before every match of a regular season.

Well, after reading the rules my description is not clearly written but that's what I deduced. I don't see any other possible organization. And it this case, sitenoise's idea would indeed be good if it's possible.

@sitenoise in that case there will be differences between player's history and team rosters. I'm not sure about it.

@Sherlock some solution is creating a teams like “Chicago week 1”, “Chicago week 2”, but it will case a lot of other problems. For now I don't have any idea how to implement this quite strange tournament in our db.

@Volleybox @Sherlock  The micro-problem of this tournament is one thing, and is probably best served by News Items that explain it. The macro problem of inaccuracies in the database due to, well, the nature of a database, is another. I can't imagine a solution. If we treat each tournament and its rosters as a discreet unit, it breaks the notion of a database. But the way it is now has created dozens and dozens of inaccurate rosters. I live with it because I know which ones are wrong and don't pay attention to them. 
One of the only ways I could think of to solve it would be to require absolute dates on when a player is registered to a team. An impossible ask. An example of what I mean by this: If Zhu Ting signs with Tianjin on on November 1st, she will be added to Tianjin roster and show up in the Chinese National Championship roster for Tianjin which happened in September, which is inaccurate. But if her “contract date” (Nov 1st) excluded her from Tianjin rosters that happened before that contract date, she'd be excluded. But … well … like I say, probably an impossible solution. 

@sitenoise I totally agree with you. I don't like when I see a player who is supposed to have play a tournament, but he actually did not because he signed/left mid-season. But I think what we have right now is the best idea for a database, and players changing mid-season is still marginal.

And after all, who cares about this tournament is the USA ? Let's be blind and not see it :D

@Sherlock It's almost miraculous what we have ! I agree. But 90% of Japanese players sign mid-season. That's not marginal. They end up rostered on both of two opposing teams in a tournament in many cases :)
