Adding MIP to Award List? 3 évvel ezelőtt +1

@Volleybox Is this still on the todo list or has this been implemented? I'm looking at https://women.volleybox.net/women-all-japan-intercollegiate-championship-2020-21-o18481/best_players for a Fighting Spirit award to give

@Volleybox - A report and a request about this cool new feature:

Report (on desktop and iPad):

Open a Club Profile page, click on one of the players to view them, click the browser's back button. It returns to the Club Profile as expected.
Open a Club Profile page, click on a roster profile photo w/roster, close the profile photo with the X, click on one of the players to view them, click the browser's back button. It returns to the open roster photo. Not expected.

Request:

Can you abbreviate the player positions in the Roster Profile roster, such as Outside Hitter as OH, so that the long names (of OH and MB) don't line break?

I think it would look better if the rows were uniform in height, and it would probably allow for the whole roster to be displayed (on the size of my computer screen anyway) without having to scroll it.

@CHN_HRQ_FAN  It looks like we're going to leave the rest of them vague and confusing, but do you have a link to this "data volley 4" program? Maybe I can learn something there

or “Fighting Spirit - MIP” ?

Adding MIP to Award List? 3 évvel ezelőtt +1

@Volleybox  I'll let @breakingice make the call because it was his/her suggestion but I'd call it “Fighting Spirit” instead of  “Most Important Player” because for those who don't know about it, it might be confusing with the MVP.

All levels and genders in Japan, yes.

@Sherlock  That last one is the one I'd like to get clear on. In Japan, a team “Manager”, which might be different from a “Team Manager”, is usually a maturing player who gets a promotion because they've lost playing time to the youngins. They probably make sure everyone gets on the bus and that the refrigerator is stocked.

The GM is usually some old guy who's had coaching or scouting experience, maybe is in charge of recruiting players and securing a budget. Big difference there ?

I believe @Volleybox  went with FIVB naming conventions for the staff titles? They threw me for a loop at first, and I asked about them right away with no one offering to help me understand them. “Head Coach” was one I asked about at the time. It doesn't surprise me that @happywithvolleyball would have the same question. (Think about it).

There are others I'm still uncertain of:

Analyst = Statistician?
Trainer = Physiotherapist or Physical preparation coach?
GM = Sports Director?

Color me very disappointed in the way these staff names rolled out with no help or explanation.

All Star games as a Tournament? 3 évvel ezelőtt 0

@Sherlock  yeah, but as I've mentioned before many Japanese players already exist on two teams for the same year, adding a third wouldn't be that much ? . One thing that might get weird is transfers – from which team?

I'll hold off on it for a while. Let it stew

@Sherlock  said

if we start adding teams like “V-TEAM” and “K-TEAM” as national teams in the database, it could open the door to all sorts of data deviations

yeah, hmm

@Sherlock  lol I know. and wanted to tell you that because I can't seem to “like” a post any more

Hurdle #1: Can't pick “country” as the region

All Star games as a Tournament? 3 évvel ezelőtt 0

@Sherlock  Ha! Somebody sneaked that in there ?

I notice it is created as a “Club” Tournament and there are no rosters. I'm not quite sure of any value in that. This, for me, is more about tracking who made the all star teams than about which anonymous team, A or B, won the match.

I think I'll create it as a National team tournament and see what happens, unless you have some thoughts why that would be a bad idea.

Fighting Spirits are a big honor in Japan. I have always missed not being able to include them here

#gogoKIXX ?

@Eylul  Yeah, I think Naz is smarter and more gifted but Cansu's passion rocks my world

@Eylul
setter: Cansu or Wolosz

middle: Eda Erdem/Veljkovic

outside hitter: Gabi / Herbotts

opposite: Bosko

libero: Kobata or Inoue

@Volleybox  Okay, it's official ??

Shanghai will play two games? 3 évvel ezelőtt 0

@CHN_HRQ_FAN  Yes please do ! lol Remember you can go here: https://women.volleybox.net/players/current_rosters to see the few still dangling out there. It's too hard for me to figure some of the translations except for the ones I know about well. Speaking of which, I removed Yuan and Liu from the Liaoning roster because those porno popup transfer proofs appear to have jumped the gun. I don't know about where any of the Bayi players might end up. If you do, Great! Someone here needs to give care and feeding to all things China on this web site. It's cool if you are up to helping out. I will assist in any way I can

When I look at these on iPad, I notice that the “Tournament data” box is below the team lists and such from 2017/18 and newer, whereas it's above  the team lists and such from 2016/17 and older
