Amazing material by TVP Sport about Polish player since 2003. Poland NT pulled off a huge surprise during the 2003 European Championships in Turkey. Team coached by Andrzej Niemczyk won against the hosts in three sets in the final game. Although they lost out on the chance to qualify for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, they successfully defended their European Championship title in 2005. They then went on to win bronze at the EuroVolley in 2009, having one year earlier finished eighth at Beijing 2008, Poland’s first Olympic appearance in 30 years. A sign of Poland’s continued improvement was their eighth-place finish at the 2010 World Championships, their best placing since the 1970s, however recent coaching changes failed to provide the results expected. Piotr Makowski, Poland’s fourth coach in five years, was appointed at the helm earlier in 2013 with the aim to rebuild the national team, ranked 15th in the world, around new captain Katarzyna Skowrońska-Dolata. She played since 2003 for Polish national team!
