Lyubov Vladimirovna Sokolova (Russian: Любо́вь Влади́мировна Соколо́ва (Шашко́ва), also known as Lyubov Kılıç and formerly known as Lyubov Shashkova) (born 4 December 1977) is a retired Russian volleyball player who played for Dinamo Krasnodar in Russia. She was a member of the national team that won the gold medals at 2006 and 2010 World Championship in Japan and the silver medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.

Yelena Pavlova (born December 12, 1978) is a retired volleyball player from Kazakhstan, who captained the Women's National Team at the 2008 Olympic Qualification Tournament in Japan. There the team ended up in fifth place, and qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics. Pavlova became "Best Scorer" at the event, alongside Puerto Rico's Karina Ocasio.

The United States began their defence of the Women's World Championship with a hard-fought 3:0 victory over a powerful Azerbaijan. Coach Karch Kiraly said: "I want to compliment the Azerbaijan team for playing very hard. They have some attackers that are difficult to defend. It was a great challenge for us and we look forward to more in this tournament".
