My calculations show the following pools:
Italy-France-USA.
Czech-Brazil-Germany.
Serbia-Russia-Argentina.
Spain-Bulgaria-Cuba.
(note not making any predictions right now on who will win the pools)

I don't know why Spain won against Japan to put themselves with Russia and Serbia. Either they are a team that should be given a lot of credit for doing the right thing, or maybe there was some money involved, but I don't want to accuse them of that.

Jians, yeah I actually saw all three games. Canada didn't play as well in Quebec but I really enjoyed it because even though it was a tiny venue, it was totally packed, and the crowd really into it. Did you see Simon in the warmup? Lol, funny guy, he really likes to put on a show, and I like that. Yeah the Cubans were a little cocky, Leal did that in all 3 matches, just about every point he scored he gave really dirty looks across the net, for literally 5 or more seconds. But hey I really respect the Cubans, it doesn't bother me when they do that, I think part of its just the fun of the game.
Wasn't surprised to see Czechs beating USA. Czechs have been playing very good volleyball, and USA has been playing quite bad.
Cuba in World League 2007 13 years ago +2
nicely edited video.
I think it must have been in the 2nd, 4th, or 1st part of the 5th set... Cuba was to the right of the up referee. Hierrezuelo was in position to set with a good pass, but no blockers were with him as he was between positions 3 and 4, so he attacked it very hard.
Rachel, the first set was very intense, and I was impressed with the Cuban play. Brazil did some good things as well, but overall I don't think they played great, and will definitely need to be playing better. I wish Bernardo would try Theo on the right side, i've never liked Visotto and he didn't play well today.

The last points were awesome too. Both teams were making awesome plays and serving very hard. I laughed when Simon aced his first serve of the match though, I called it as soon as he tossed the ball, teams should know by now that he gets an ace like that at least once a match, and the receivers usually don't even move before hits the ground, he's very good at dropping it short like that. Hierrezuelo had an awesome 2nd ball attack too ?. I hope these plays will be put up in a video here soon.
Hey so if a team decides during the last match that its better to lose, are they allowed to just stand on the court and let the other team serve 25 points in a row? Is there some sort of rule that says you have to at least make it look like your trying to win?

I mean they could just start with all their subs, but what if their subs are playing an awesome game? Take out the setter and then set from whoever happens to be in 3?
Go Cuba! ?
I'll do as many highlights as I can. Only thing is that this stuff isn't aired in Canada. A friend has a friend in Poland who will send some matches, at least the stuff that Canada played in. Other than that I'll look around and see if I can do some match trading, then i'll put out a bunch of videos.
Yeah there was some good moments in that game, too bad Canada fell apart in the third set and couldn't execute well past 20 points. Hey you'd be a hero if you uploaded some highlights of Canada vs. Serbia. I'll be doing it soon though, but not until after I get the matches sent through mail from Poland.
Hey I can't find the info on FIVB. When 2 teams are tied for points, what's the tie-breaking procedure?

Edit: I found it, tie's are determined by points ratio.
Wow, Czech beat Bulgaria..
Goodbye Canada ?
Canada just needs 2 sets to move on, if Germany wins 3-0 or 3-1 won't make a difference.
Hey someone please upload the Canada Serbia match so I can watch. I had to work and I missed it. I NEED to see this game ?
I predict that Canada will lose to Serbia. Anyone wanna bet money on that? ?

edit (5 hrs after the match): Now I feel stupid.
A few weeks ago in an exhibition match against Canada, Cuba came back from 10-17 and then 24-20 to win 28-26. But Cuba really didn't have to do anything special..

I wish spike and block touch listings were more accurate. 329cm? Obviously that's not true. On a Cuban lineup one time, there were 7 of them in a row listed as having a spike touch of exactly 358cm, with the exception of Hernandez who had a typo and said 258cm. But something tells me their captain Simon had a bit of a higher spike touch than the setter, and probably not the exact same as 5 other hitters.
Makes me not want to even play this sport.. but ok, if he's that tall and can still be a coordinated athlete, then I give him credit. Not crazy about a standing joust at the net though, but would be interesting to see him go up against kazakov like that :)

Btw, Simon is awesome :). Here are some rules when playing against him: 1) He will ace your team at least once a match with his short spin serve. 2) He is stronger than you. 3) Don't make him angry at the net, or he will get the next set out of the middle and then go on to score several more points.
